20 Days of Prayer Day 17 "The Last Supper -- Jesus In Me"
Today is Thursday of Holy Week, Day 17 of the 20 Days of Prayer. On this day the Church worldwide remembers the last supper Jesus shared with His Disciples in the Upper Room. It is here, at this Passover Meal, that Jesus gave us His final instructions before His death on the cross the next day. These instructions are most fully covered in the Upper Room discourse in John 13 – 17. Jesus closes this discourse with these final words, “I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them” (John 17: 26 NIV).
Jesus is telling us He lives in every believer! This means His love, peace, joy, hope, faith, and power live in us as well. Therefore, what is standing between us and a life free from fear and anxiety in this time of trial and tribulation must be within our own hearts. How do we come to a place where we can access all Christ has already given us? We repent! And so, I commend to you this prayer by Louis Haynes.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and hold me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24).
Lord, as we approach the day of resurrection of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, I give you permission to search my heart and mind. Examine me that I might repent of anything in me that is offensive to you, preventing me from fully living in your peace, joy, hope, and power. Purify me with the fire of your Holy Spirit that I may be whiter than snow and be prepared to celebrate with great joy what Jesus did for me on the cross. I love you, my God. In Jesus Name. Amen.
