A Prayer of Consecration
I wrote this prayer intending that it be read out loud, preferably at the beginning of the day. I believe that consecrating our words, actions, and even our thoughts each day will draw us deeper into God’s heart.
Jesus, Your name is ‘Power’. Your name is ‘Faithful’. Your name is ‘Healer’. You are ‘Savior’. You are Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty. There is none like You. Your holiness is infinite, reaching beyond the boundaries of the universe. You are perfect in beauty, majestic in Your perfection. There is no flaw or blemish in You. You are pure; morally and ethically perfect. You are absolute goodness and light – there is no darkness in You. You are love. You are high and lifted up – seated at the right hand of the Father – all powers and principalities are beneath Your feet and subject to Your commands. Your glory— the outstreaming manifestation of Your beauty – fills the earth and gives light to all who accept your reign and obey your commands. You are unchangeable and constant – the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. You are truth. You are life. All life is found in You and through You.
You are sovereign, omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. Time is in Your hands; it flows from Your mind, and carries the whole world in it’s grip like a river in the direction of Your will. Who am I in this great flood of Your purposes and glory? Yet, You have “made me the ruler over the works of Your hands. You have placed everything beneath my feet” (Psalm 8: 6). This is too much for me, Jesus. I can scarcely comprehend all You have shown me.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I worship You. I praise the name of Jesus; the Name above every other name – You are worthy, worthy, worthy of worship, adoration, and praise. I bow down before You — only You!
Your Word says, “Be holy because I Am holy”. Your purpose is for me to be sanctified, made holy by You – to join You in the New Jerusalem, shining with the Glory of God, walking in Your light on streets of gold beside the stream of living water. Thank You, Jesus, that I begin the journey toward the New Jerusalem today, when by grace through faith, I enter and live with You in the Kingdom of God.
Jesus, circumcise my heart. Cut away sinful flesh – my pride – all that separates me from Your life. Cut loose those things that have a grip on my heart; cut away the veil that separates me from You. Cut away negative emotions like anger and hatred, fear (especially fear), and sin.
I repent of every idol in my life, including political or ideological movements. Forgive me when I ‘take a knee’ or bow my head to idols in the name of ‘social justice’. The Kingdom of God is my home and in that Kingdom there is perfect equality.
I repent of ever believing I am the owner of the gifts You have given me. I repent of stealing Your glory and trying to make it my own. Jesus, I repent of looking for my security, value, and comfort in the world, instead of You. Forgive me if I lack the courage to stand against culture; when I allow culture to replace you on the throne of my life, especially cultural movements rooted in the occult. I want to worship You alone, but too often I have fallen far short of that desire. I repent, Jesus. Forgive me, I forgive myself.
Jesus, with Your help and Your power, today I consecrate everything to You – all I had, all I have, and all I will ever have; all I have been, all I am, and all I will ever be. I offer it all up to You, Lord. I consecrate my time, my possessions; my wealth, reputation, family, relationships, accomplishments, and ministry to You. I consecrate and offer up my hopes, dreams, desires, and will to You, Lord God Almighty. They all belong to You, for You alone own the cattle on a thousand hills. I consecrate all of this to You for Your purposes and glory.
I consecrate each day to You. I consecrate my hands, my eyes, my thoughts, my words, emotions, and my actions to You every day. I offer them to You as “instruments of righteousness”. Sanctify all of these, that they may be “living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God”.
Jesus, I offer up and consecrate to You all my pain, hurt, anger, hatred, sin, fear, bitterness, resentment, sorrow, and unforgiveness – all of the defiling, desecrating, and unrighteous acts done by me and done to me. Jesus, I want to be holy and whole. Heal me emotionally, deliver me spiritually. Heal my body. Set me free from shame and guilt, fear and anxiety, depression and despair. Break any curses spoken over me by myself or others. I consecrate to You the times I have allowed myself to be offended.
Jesus, today I bind my heart to Your heart. I bind my mind to Your mind. I bind my will to Your will, and I bind my ways to your ways. Jesus, I loose any stronghold thinking, negative emotions, and every critical thought that keeps me from knowing and loving you as my Lord.
Jesus, make me like You – loving God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and loving others as I love myself. Help me to make You first, so that I can serve You and others with no thought of my own reward. Help me to be servant to the world, walking in peace and joy, secure in the knowledge that You will never abandon me or forsake me. Help me daily to give up the right to myself – not for any benefit to me, but for Your Kingdom purposes and Your glory. Jesus, I want You to be the thought that moves me to action, the gate by which I enter, the road I walk along, the purpose for which I live, and the destination I am yearning for. You, and You alone, are the highway to holiness. I want to be on that highway. I consecrate myself and my things for these purposes, but without You in my life, none of this is possible. Jesus, I need You every day.
Jesus, be my vision, my mission, my peace, my joy, and my hope. Open the door of my heart so I can release the Kingdom of God into the kingdom of the world, take back the territory, push back the darkness, and defeat the power of evil as your grace and power working through me allow, using the gifts you have given me.
Jesus, protect me from the attacks of satan and his demons – large and small. Place a shield of protection around me and assign angels to watch over me. As soon as I surrender myself to You, I am on satan’s radar screen. Hide me as I meet you in the secret place and hold me close.
Lord, I trust You. Help me now to place all in Your hands, for You are Faithful. Apart from You, none of this is possible.
There is no better place to live than under the wings of my Savior, Jesus Christ, the Lover of my spirit, soul, and body – my Lord and my God, my Father, my Friend, my Protector, my Deliverer, and my Healer.
I ask all this in Your name, Jesus Christ, Lord God Almighty, Creator and King of the universe; believing by faith that this work has already begun.
Hallelujah!
Amen
