Heading to Houston
Wow!! The stories of the Rich Young Ruler and Bartimaeus have opened up a new understanding of the Kingdom of God for me. I am processing what I have learned and how it impacts my view of the Kingdom, my life, and what I believe God wants for His Church in the west. I see now that part of my heart is a ‘fortified city’ blocking that part of me from entering into the Kingdom of God. How many Christians are struggling with ‘fortified cities’ and don’t know why they are there, what they are, or how to deal with them? Probably most of us.
Who lived in that archetype of ‘fortified cities’, Jericho? Canaanites! They personified evil (I think). They stand for the indwelling sin that lives in all ‘fortified cities’. Is there a huge ‘fortified city’ living in the heart of the Church today? Is it called a ‘spirit of religion’? Has the Gospel of Salvation stripped the Church of it’s power?
Too much to think about today. I am on my way to Houston for a weekend with Dr. Dennis Sempebwa. He is a strong man of God. If any of you want to hear him, be prayed over by him, to hear his prophetic word for you, come to First Presbyterian Church on Saturday February 20 at 9:00 AM in the room called “the Attic”. The person at the door of the church will direct you.
My plan is to write more about the Kingdom of God when I get home next week.
Grace and peace,
John
