40 Days of Prayer Day 22 "Then, I Will Gaze On Your Beauty"

Wait for the Lord; be strong, take courage, and wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14 NIV).

Oh my Lord, my God, You give the direction of the “double wait.” It draws my attention with its emphasis. Even more, You sandwich a military command to be strong and courageous, filled with an expectancy of victory between the “waits.”

Come, my heart says to Your heart. (Psalm 27:8) Let me dwell in Your house. Let me gaze on Your beauty. (Psalm 27:4) Let me see Your goodness while I sojourn waiting here, clothed in this suit of clay. (Psalm 27:13).

You have not called me to a passive wait. Make me militant in my waiting, pressing on to gain territory.

Lord, empower me by Your Holy Spirit to wait (Hebrew: qavah). Bind my heart, like an unbreakable fetter, to Your heart. Bind my will to Your will, my hands to Your hands, my eyes to Your eyes. Let me be lost in entwinement with You. Then, I will dwell in Your house. Then, I will gaze on Your beauty.

Even so, come Lord Jesus, come.

Amen
