40 Days of Prayer Day 15 “God is Our Hope, Our Joy, Our Peace”
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1: 2 – 5 NIV).
Father God, we turn to You in these unprecedented times of challenge and uncertainty. Forgive us for grumbling or cowering in fear; help us instead to look for the good results that You want to bring out of this crisis. It’s not just that we are learning patience and perseverance, which may well be the virtue least desired. You promised that patient perseverance, if allowed to grow, will cause us to grow in maturity. Thank You for the good work you are doing in us, and help us to rejoice in it, even if the circumstances themselves are less than what we would desire.
Thank You, also, for your precious promise to pour out Your wisdom upon us if only we ask You. More than ever, we need Your wisdom in our daily lives and decisions; remind us to keep asking You without feeling that we bothered You too much. Thank You that You always find a way to guide us in Your wisdom.
Last but not least, we ask for wisdom for our leaders, from the federal government all the way to the local authorities; for businesses, hospitals and institutions as they are making decisions for us. Thank You for using this time of trial to further Your kingdom.
Amen
